The cultural center is part of the urban development plan proposal ‘Bulaq…The Evolution’ which aimed at resolving the strong dichotomy between the luxurious strip along the Nile and the residents of inner Bulaq through synchronizing their interests as well as highlighting and developing Bulaq’s industrial, commercial, historical and cultural potentials.  

 

This project deals with socio-economic reconciliation through preserving Bulaq’s industrial heritage and providing recreational spaces. The first objective is achieved through adaptive re-use of entities valuable in their essence and feel while the museum allows for the preservation of the entities precious in their entirety. The recreational function is partially achieved through the integration with the park and complemented with newly introduced activities and functions to the existing spaces, making use of the cultural value of the zone to create curiosity, interest and adventure.
