The vision of the project was to create a heat-sensitive architectural façade system that minimizes direct solar radiation, while providing natural light, view and user preferences, using shape memory alloys as actuators. One geometry module was explored in terms of material limitations and potentials. The façade composition was designed to optimize the movements and possibilities based on their relevance. Three types of actuation systems were investigated: passive (heating –UV), cooling (by two-way treatment), electrical (Arduino circuit heating), and mechanical (using springs/weights) for shape recovery.
