Emerging from the Mountains

Architecture and Urban Library

Moqattam Hills, Cairo

Moqattam Hills can be considered a premium location for an architecture and urban library in Cairo for all what it witnessed of developments in the art of building and all what it overlooks today of monuments from all times. The building was designed to reflect the state of architecture and urban planning today, which was very different from what past builders used to create, but which had a basis, not always obvious but surely present, on principles, ideals and understandings of architects and urban designers of the past. The project’s design was highly influenced by the mountain sharpness and cracks aesthetics as well as by the concept of framing the views to provide a separate and integrated visualization of Cairo’s architecture from the view.
